- 3Filmography
Early life[edit]
As a child, Faria was progressive and always involved in extracurricular activities. She also dreamt of being an army officer, but gave that up in order to pursue her passion of being a star in show business.[2]
Career[edit]
Faria started her career as a debater participating in a BTV debate show. She is a national debate champions in 2010 and 2011. She started her career in show business as a model in several television commercials. Throughout her career, she has worked in various television commercials[3][4] and radio programs.[5] In 2014, she hosted a reality show, Fair and Handsome: The Ultimate Man.[6]She signed with Jaaz Multimedia to appear in two films, titled Aashiqui and Hero 420.[2] The former, being her debut film, released in late 2015[7] while the latter released in early 2016. The former also earned Mazhar a Meril Prothom Alo Award for Best Newcomer in film or television.[8] Both films were Indo-Bangladeshi joint ventures, being co-produced by Eskay Movies.
In 2016, Mazhar also starred in another Indo-Bangladeshi co-production, Badsha - The Don, directed by Baba Yadav. The film also starred popular Indian actor Jeet, and is considered a turning point in Mazhar's career,[9] earning Mazhar a Tele Cine Award for Best Actress from Bangladesh.[10]

After starring Indo-Bangladeshi films for the past two years, Mazhar then starred in two Bangladeshi films in 2017, Premi o Premi[9] and Dhat Teri Ki.[11] Mazhar also recorded dialogue for Detective, Bangladesh's first animated film. All three of these films were produced by Jaaz Multimedia and also starred Arifin Shuvo.
2017 also saw Mazhar return with the team behind Badsha - The Don for the film Boss 2: Back to Rule, again directed by Baba Yadav, produced by Jaaz Multimedia and starring Jeet. The film is a sequel to the 2013 film Boss: Born to Rule and also stars Subhasree Ganguly. The film is also an Indo-Bangladeshi joint venture, being co-produced by Walzen Media Works and Jeet's production company, Jeetz Filmworks.[12] Initially rejecting the film, Mazhar later agreed to starring in the film when she read the script, describing her character as layered and an opportunity to show off her acting prowess, also calling the character a trendsetter.[13] Mazhar also came under criticism for her costume in the music video for the song 'Rj Rock' from Boss 2, a song which was also criticized for its lyrics.[14][15] The actor tried her hand at singing for a music video, 'Pataka'. Written by Rakib Rahul, the song was composed by Pritom Hasan.[16] The music video was highly criticised by the audience, getting larger number of dislikes than likes in YouTube.

Controversy[edit]
In May 2017, Mazhar starred in the music video of 'Allah Meherbaan', a song from her film Boss 2: Back to Rule. The song then caused controversy when it was mistaken for a religious song, and resulted in a legal notice being given to Jaaz Multimedia to remove the video.[15] Mazhar also came under criticism for wearing revealing costumes in the music video,[21] with the video being called a 'mockery of Islam' during the month of Ramadan.[14] The video was later removed from the internet, and was later replaced by 'Yaara Meherbaan', an updated version of the song with rewritten lyrics.[22]

Nusrat Jahan (born 8 January 1990) is an Indian film actress who predominantly works in Bengali cinema.[1][2][3] She joined active politics in 2019 and contested from Basirhat as a Trinamool Congress candidate. [4][5] Jahan's screen debut was in Raj Chakraborty's Shotru. She then appeared in the film Khoka 420, under the banner Eskay Movies. Her other notable movies include Khiladi, with Ankush Hazra, Sondhe Namar Agey, with Rahul Bose and Power, with Jeet under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. She won the title of “Fair One Miss Kolkata” 2010. She is an elected Member of Parliament of Basirhat.[6]
Background and personal life[edit]
Nusrat Jahan was born in a Bengali Muslim family in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.[7]She completed her schooling from Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Kolkata and went to college in Bhawanipur College, Kolkata.[8]
On 19 June 2019, within a month after being elected to parliament from the Basirhat constituency, Nusrat Jahan married her long-time boyfriend and live-in partner, Nikhil Jain, a small-time businessman. The wedding was held on the very day when the newly elected parliament was convened for the first time and newly elected members took oath. Nusrat chose to skip that important event, failed to take oath, and instead regaled the twitterati with pictures of her destination wedding.[9] She has been criticised in the press for behaving in an irresponsible and highly self-centered manner, like a typical filmstar-politician, and failing in her duties as an MP on the very first day.[10] The wedding was held in Turkey, an Islamic country, for reasons which have not been stated. According to several press reports, Nusrat's 'parents, sister and other close relatives' were present at the wedding, but there is total silence regarding Nikhil's parents and family, who were not present. [11][12] Nusrat is a Muslim and a staunch, outspoken defender of the 'human right' of people to slaughter cows and eat that flesh (which is legal in West Bengal), Nikhil belongs to a Jain family which cherishes the ideals of ahimsa as the first principle of humanity. While Nusrat is a Bengali and speaks the Bengali language, Nikhil hails from north India and his mother tongue is Hindi. While Nusrat is a starlet who has made two careers (filmi and political), Nikhil comes from a conservative background which cherishes modesty and social respectabilty.
